Licensing Types

To use the SMath Studio program, a license is required. License is an electronic file containing basic information about the user and organization. It also contains licenses amount and their properties.

All license types can be hosted by both Root Licensing Server and Local Licensing Server installed on the organization's network.

License Types

• Fixed License – single working place, authorizing one user to use SMath Studio. This user can use the software in his account on a dedicated computer.
• Floating (network) License – gives multiple users the right to use the SMath Studio software without being tied to particular hardware. The only constraint is these users can't use this license simultaneously. If several Floating licenses purchased, the number of concurrent users able to share the license is equal to the number of purchased licenses.

License Periods

• Fixed-term - makes it possible to use a license for a specific period of time. Different licenses may support different time periods, but they all have the following features:
  1. Both minor and major SMath Studio updates are supported.
  2. Requires re-registration after its expiration if you plan to continue using the software.
  3. Technical support is included in the price for the entire period of use.
• Lifetime - is provided without any expiration date and works without time restrictions. Lifetime licenses are issued only for commercial use. Such a license have the following features:
  1. Only minor SMath Studio updates are supported. There are several important notes here:
     • If a major update (for example 1.x -> 2.x) is published within 6 months from the date of the license purchase/update, then the license is updated by your software vendor to the new major version for free.
     • If a major update (for example 1.x -> 2.x) is released after 6 months from the date of the license purchase/update, then the license major version upgrade is possible with a 50% discount from the current lifetime license retail price (It does not include any technical support prolongations). Important note: 50% discount is only available for 1 generation upgrade like 1.x -> 2.x or 14.x -> 15.x.

     In order to initiate your lifetime license upgrade please contact your software vendor.

  2. Lifetime license price includes 12 months of technical support. It is possible to prolong technical support for an additional period of 12 months for an additional fee.

License Delivery Methods

• Online - automatic license download based on the current user profile.
• Offline - manual license file download by the user via Root Licensing Server.
